WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- It was a picture-perfect morning as the Cape Fear Garden Club's 61st Annual Azalea Garden Tour got underway.
Hundreds turned out at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater as Queen Azalea Kirsten Haglund cut the ribbon to officially open the tour, which features 12 home gardens around Wilmington and Airlie Gardens.
Many people say the tour is the quintessential Azalea Festival event.
"The Garden Tour, I think, will be lovely," spectator Susan Snider said. "Everything is in bloom finally."
The Cape Fear Garden Club puts the proceeds back into the community in the form of grants and scholarships.
